A Book Review and Some Chitter-Chatter

Remember I told you that I had begun reading ‘The Devil’s Workshop’ by Alex Grecian? Well, I finished it yesterday. But I must admit I was a bit disappointed by it. I didn't really like the ending you know. I guess something more dramatic and pacy would have been better, for me at least. Of-course I’m not saying I didn't enjoy it at all because I definitely did. It had all the right ingredients for me after all. To my view any story set in the late 1800s holds a different allure altogether. The same was the case with this. The fact that it also had the intriguing angle of Jack the Ripper was, well, an icing on the cake. It would suffice to say that I was already won over by the plot before I had even turned the first page. And that’s where it all went wrong. That’s perhaps the reason why the book fell short of my expectations, for they were huge. Nevertheless the book did give me some interesting and startling moments as a reader. So it was not all waste.

I'll give it a 3 out of 5.

Would I recommend it? Well, certainly. But not very strongly.

The next book I’ve picked up is ‘Love in the Time of Cholera’ by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Now I’ve heard a lot about the author and the book. A few days back when Facebook Timelines were being flooded with ‘Top 10 Books Favorite Books’ I noticed that Gabriel Garcia Marquez or rather this book by him was a permanent fixture in many lists. So I obviously wanted to find out what it was all about? Hence purchased it and have even begun reading it. This time though I’m not setting any expectations. Let’s see how this one unfolds.

On another related note, I’m so happy with the way my reading is going these days. After a drought in this department for about 4 to 5 months, I feel like I’m finally back on track. Fingers crossed!

Apart from my reading my movie watching rate is also on the rise. Yes, well I guess I’m experiencing the ‘Have Fun’ phase a little too strongly these days. We watched ‘A walk among the tombstones’ this week but sadly Neeson wasn't really Neeson in this one. If you know what I mean? Maybe it was the story or the lack of it! It didn't have the kill factor you know. But there’s always another movie to watch. So undeterred as always today we are going for ‘Deliver Us From Evil’. Let’s see how that turns out. Oh by the way did you watch the trailer of Annabelle. It’s so damn scary, isn't it? Don’t watch it alone if you haven’t seen it already!

Signing off for today. Have a great weekend.

Keep reading and blogging!
